Pun’s Labyrinth V Disc Golf Tournament – Punderson State Park

We are getting ready for Pun’s Labyrinth V July 23 & 24th this year located in beautiful Punderson State Park in Newbury, OH! The course has been kept up by our very dedicated volunteers as the park staff has only been doing some minimal mowing and right now looks its best ever! Although our course is in a State Park, that doesn’t mean that the park maintains the course. Currently the Friends of Punderson are responsible for the upkeep, maintenance and running our events.

The Island is in, however the island basket WILL NOT BE IN PLAY for the tournament. We look forward to it being an addition to our weekly leagues and maybe some other events however right now it is not “tournament ready”.

This year we will also have another epic prize raffle! Please bring CASH as we may not be able to take credit cards the day of the event. ANYONE is allowed to participate in the prize raffle as it is a fundraiser for our course/events. If you cannot stay for the prize raffle, you will have to tell Cupcake directly who you are trusting to collect your winnings for you, otherwise we will draw another winner. We cannot afford to ship prizes to winners. All proceeds from the raffle go back into the disc golf course and future events! It is the best time to make a donation to Punderson’s Disc Golf Course. Please visit Disc Golf Scene for all of our wonderful prizes this year including a Zuca, Inc. Cart (formerly Ridge Roller donated by Zuca), a Dosh Board Golf Game (disc golf board game donated by Dosh Board Golf), Lake Erie Monsters tickets for the 2016-2017 season, Lake County Captains Tickets, tickets to the Improv Comedy Club, a large Discatcher Sport portable basket and a Discatcher Mini Basket along with a ton of other great items this year!

Here is the current Itinerary (one will be in the player’s pack as well):

We are expecting some very HOT weather, with current temps predicted to be in the mid 90’s – please make sure to bring everything you need to stay cool and hydrated! We will try to provide some water out on the course as well.

Punderson Disc Golf Summer 2016 Update

We are really excited about some progress at the disc golf course this year!

Glow League – Need we say more? We are bringing the glow league back this year! Make sure you mark your calendar and come out and glow! We have glow discs available – if you don’t have glow discs you can get some at this event. Cupcake also has some colored glow in the dark tape – so if you need some remind her before the glow! PLEASE make sure to have a small LED black light or Ultra Violet Light we DO NOT permit flashlights to be used during these rounds except for emergency purposes only.

Our first tournament is coming up on June 18th – the Red, White and Blue Marathon – three rounds back to back of alternating Red, White and Blue Tee layouts. This demanding tournament is a perfect way to get started up here at Punderson! Go ALL IN and play EVERY tee pad in a taxing one day tourney!

Pun’s Labyrinth V is our next event – July 23-24th – a two day PDGA C-Tier Sanctioned Tournament. This event sold out in February and there is currently a waiting list, which – yes, you have to pay in advance to be on. Refunds will be issued if you don’t make it in. However if you still want to contribute, this is our biggest event and our infamous prize raffle is open to anyone wanting to join us for this event! We are getting a lot of great donations this year including Dosh Board Golf – the First Disc Golf Board Game, and more recently Zuca Cart who will be providing us with a cart and this Special Offer for our players!

The last big event we will be having this year is the Pine Lake Open on September 18th – Two rounds from the blue tees this will be the big event to end the year! We are in the works of making this event PDGA Sanctioned also – so please watch Disc Golf Scene for updates.

Also, we are really pretty sure the bridge to the island will be installed this year… we know it has taken a while, but it may even be in play for the Pine Lake Open.

If anyone wants to volunteer to keep a hole maintained, or mow, PLEASE CONTACT US so we can get you your volunteer form submitted to the park! Bench sponsorships are also now being accepted, it is about $75.00 and some volunteer labor needed to put one in – please see Andy, Bob or Cupcake if you would like to contribute.

Pun’s Labyrinth IV – Our Biggest Event Yet!

Puns2015Pun’s Labyrinth went without a hitch this year! We had great weather, a huge turnout, and an awesome three rounds of disc golf mixed in with camping and good times! Additional pictures of the event can be found on our Punderson Disc Golf Facebook Page.

The Course Record was Broken:

The course record was broken from the Blues to Long pins by both Scott Stokely and Manabu Kajiyama (who joined us all the way from Japan!) with a score of 66 each, which is 3 under par!

Two Aces were Hit the First Round:

Manabu Kajiyama and Tom Weremblewski Jr. both hit an Ace the first round. Awesome job guys!

Players from Japan Enjoy our Course:

Manabu Kajiyama, Shigecko Sekiguchi, and Kazuo Shirai all joined us from Japan on their way to Worlds this year. If you play the course regularly you may have met them getting ready for the tournament playing three rounds a day while they were in town. At the end of the tournament Manabu expressed his enjoyment of the course and being a part of our event. Manabu took 3rd Place in Open while Kazuo finished with only 6 strokes above par, so all of that practice definitely payed off!

Scott Stokely’s Announcement:

Scott Stokely has been out of the disc golf scene for around a decade, and this year he is making a comeback going on tour and playing in the PDGA Pro Disc Golf  World Championships this year in the Masters division. During our awards ceremony, Scott announced that our course, as of right now, was THE best wooded disc golf course he has ever played. This announcement was huge, as our course is maintained by a few extremely dedicated volunteers, even if this recognition doesn’t last for long, we were extremely grateful to hear it. Scott is also doing a series of clinics on his tour, many aimed at helping those with disabilities or special needs. Please follow his Facebook Page to see where he will be next!

THANK YOU to all of our Sponsors, Volunteers and Prize Donors!
